  • 2 x Free range Hen eggs (if you would prefer duck eggs, we can accommodate this for an additional cost, subject to availability)

  • Selection of Button and Chestnut Mushrooms (dependent on availability)

Arrival Dinner

After a long day of travel, we want you to relax and settle into your stay at Lydgate House Cottage without worrying about cooking your evening meal. That’s why we’ve created a special arrival dinner add-on service just for you, ready in the fridge to pop in the oven.

Indulge in our individual Steak, Mushroom and Horseradish homemade pies, topped with a creamy mashed potato, and accompanied by a selection of freshly prepared seasonal vegetables that are ready to cook. Simply pop the pies in the oven and let the delicious aroma fill your cottage.

Our thoughtfully curated menu pays homage to the richness of seasonal, locally-sourced produce available right at our doorstep. Feast on an array of choices, from succulent fresh fish to Dartmoor venison loin, local free-range chicken, and premium cuts of beef steak—all prepared to perfection.

Rest assured, our commitment to supporting local producers ensures that every ingredient (where possible) is sourced locally. We understand the importance of accommodating dietary needs, allergies, intolerances, and preferences, ensuring that everyone can enjoy our culinary offerings.

Fine Wines or Nightcap Anyone?

Why not come over to the hotel and sink into our inviting sofas in the guests lounge with your favorite after dinner drink.


Choose from a selection of locally sourced whiskies or a liqueur, liqueur coffee, a hot chocolate as it comes, or with a tot of something stronger. 

Fine Dining

Local Suppliers

Since opening our doors in 2021 “Palmers” butchers (est c1900) of Tavistock has supplied our hotel with all our meat produce (apart from venison). They hand make their sausages, the beef comes from local farms around Tavistock, whilst the free-range chicken is supplied from Crediton.


The succulent Venison we source from “Wild Hart Venison” who make every effort to look after the environment and increase biodiversity. The venison is all Dartmoor reared and responsibly sourced.


Fishmonger – Straight from the trawlers in Plymouth we have a weekly fresh fish delivery to the hotel. All responsibly sourced and MSC approved.


We were so delighted to find this amazing fruit and vegetable store so local to us. A J White green grocers in Moretonhamsptead pride themselves on sourcing local and seasonal produce where possible of a high standard.


Our wine list - Sovereign wines of Tavistock are an independent wine merchant.  The big driving force behind choosing Sovereign wines was their knowledge and choice of wines which are all vegan, meaning no chemicals have been added. They have recently opened a shop in Tavistock town now.


For the coffee lovers we have sourced roasted coffee on Dartmoor from the Dartmoor Coffee Co.


All our cheeses are supplied by “Country Cheese” in Tavistock. Offering a choice of over 150 different cheese’s all matured on the edge of Dartmoor.


Whisky – We stock Dartmoor Whiskies and Gin handcrafted on the edge of Dartmoor in Bovey Tracy.   


Papillon Gin – Award-winning Dartmoor Gin from the distillery in Moretonhamstead. Named for an endangered Dartmoor butterfly financially donating to local butterfly conservation to protect this species.


Dartmoor Ales – There are four ingredients in their brewing, English malt, the finest hops, their own strain of yeast and pure Dartmoor water. A choice of four ales all stocked here at Lydgate, IPA, Jail Ale, Legend, Dragons Breath and now a Dartmoor ale zero
